                                      Script changes

It doesn't take long for Pakistan's political climate to change drastically. When it will happen, nothing can be said. Before the Senate election, the opposition had rallied against the government and all the opposition parties had agreed to hold a sit-in in Islamabad against the government after the Senate election.

 

Opposition parties had announced a sit-in in Islamabad on March 26. After this announcement, the opposition parties got involved in the Senate elections. But what was expected in the Senate election did not happen and what was not expected happened. The PTI had a majority in the Senate seat from Islamabad and the PPP won, while the opposition parties should have won the Senate election based on a majority, but the government won unexpectedly.

 

There was a storm in the political arena before the Senate elections. The government and the opposition had lined up against each other and started a war of words. It was thought that there would be another storm in the political arena between the government and the opposition after the Senate elections. But once again, the unexpected opposition to the government fell on its own.

A PDM summit was convened to finalize arrangements for a sit-in against the government and to discuss the outcome of the Senate elections. JUI and PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had already decided to raise the issue of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, the deputy chairman candidate, getting fewer votes. But it was not expected that the PPP would wrap up the opposition. Asif Ali Zardari's address to the PDMA meeting changed the course of opposition politics. Maulana Fazlur Rehman was angry at the lack of votes for the deputy chairman candidate, Maulana Fazlur Rehman became even angrier at the opposition to resign from the assemblies and the result was to postpone the sit-in against the government.

 

Before the PDM summit, there were rumours from the ruling circles that Asif Ali Zardari would once again be overwhelming. And that's what happened. According to reports, the PPP continued to move forward under the script, but the script has been changed after the Senate elections. In-house changes were to be made in Punjab after the Senate elections and under the script, another person was to be made the Chief Minister in place of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar. But the matter was put on hold due to disagreement over the name. It was reported that the PPP had agreed to make Chaudhry Parvez Elahi the Chief Minister. The PPP and the PML-Q had also been in touch on the issue of in-house change in Punjab, but some sections of the PTI opposed it.

 

According to political analysts, what happened at the PDM meeting is part of an ongoing plan. The question is, how did the PPP come up with the idea of   Nawaz Sharif's return so quickly? The movement so far has been going on without Nawaz Sharif. Maulana Fazlur Rehman was also given the leadership of PDM because there would be no alliance between PML-N and PPP for the leadership of PDM. Maulana Fazlur Rehman was given the leadership to ally.

 

Those who keep an eye on politics are well aware that both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari are in separate boats. Both have different ideologies and thoughts. How can they trust each other and recognize each other's superiority? The distrust of both is weakening the movement against the government. Apparently, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that March 26 should be considered as late and PPP has been given time on the issue of resignations. But it was obvious before and it is still clear that the PPP has never resigned from parliament. And now the issue has moved beyond resignations to the return of Nawaz Sharif.

 

The script was to split the opposition alliance and postpone the march, which has been implemented. If the opposition comes to the fore even without the PPP, then we have to wait till Ashura. Ramadan is set to begin on April 14. After Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha and then Muharram will begin. The PDM's anti-government movement can only be considered after August.

 

After the speech of Asif Ali Zardari at the PDM summit, bitterness has arisen between PPP and PML-N. How Maryam Nawaz has responded to Asif Ali Zardari's address will now take time to improve matters. In all these cases the benefit has reached the government and the government can spend the rest of the time in peace. But with political issues, the government now has to focus on public issues. PTI's popularity is declining due to rising inflation and unemployment.

 

The PPP has played an important role in the current political situation. The role of PPP is also important in the coming elections. In the current political context, the minus one formula also seems to be working, as was the case with N and Sh some time ago. Although the SHG was not formed, it will play a role to some extent and may emerge as a coalition government in the 2023 general elections, not a single party. There are also reports that the driving seat may be given to the PPP. What happens next will be decided by the "script".
